Rome in a Day: Colosseum, Vatican & Sistine Chapel Tour

This full-day Colosseum, Vatican, and Sistine Chapel tour is the perfect experience for those who want to pack their day with culture in a short amount of time. I’ll handle all of the transportation and reservations, so you’ll spend the day skipping long ticket lines, admiring the beauty of ancient ruins and Italian masterpieces, all while keeping an enjoyable pace.

We’ll begin the day at the iconic Colosseum, exploring the 1st and 2nd levels, while I’ll explain this 2,000-year-old stadium’s bloody history. Next, we’ll visit the Roman Forum (ancient city) and Palatine (Cesar’s palace). We’ll make stops at the most important ancient temples, Julius Cesar’s tomb, the Senate House, and the House of the Vestal Virgins.

Following the Forum, a professional driver will transfer us to a neighbourhood close to the Vatican where you’ll have 1.5-hour break for lunch. I’ll provide local tips on where to eat so you’re not eating at the touristy places.

After you’ve refueled from lunch, we’ll make our way to the greatest collection of art in the world: the Vatican Museum. We’ll see ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian sculptures, Renaissance masterpieces by Michelangelo and Raphael, and finish the museum portion of the tour in the Vatican’s crown jewel: the Sistine Chapel. We’ll conclude the tour in St. Peter’s Basilica, the center of faith for Catholics and the largest church in the world
